Fitness For Feeling Incredible, because FRANQLY You’re Worth it

We’ve all seen the images of hard bodies, six packs, perfect biceps and toned legs their intent is to make us all want to be that and look like that, but they also create the feeling that we aren’t  good enough now, and that we should be something else,  That we all should be able to fit into one very rigid idea of what it is to be attractive.

c6209bfa67d405054b92ce3ff23c7de3

Personally I struggle with keeping up with my fitness regimen, and when I do start something new it’s to whip myself into “shape,” like what’s wrong with my shape now?

When I work out  I feel great, my energy goes up and so does my brain power, but my intentions are never for that, those are just nice side notes. My intentions for working out are always to get a perfect beach body, to look great in a bikini, and to look like one of those fitness models. Perhaps thats the problem? My motivations for fitness are only skin deep, and rooted in changing myself for “the better,” to imply that I want to be better than I am right now, means I’m not good enough as I am, and who wants to be told they aren’t good enough? It’s not very motivating.

Why do I do this to myself? Because I’m told that’s what I’m supposed to want and I believe it, and I believe that’s  how I’m supposed to look; I’ve never questioned what my motivations have really been up till now. Well, I’m questioning it now, I’m questioning my motivations and asking what I REALLY want in life.

9778c477a0234caee7be04aaaa841e3e

Out of these questions I made a new decision, I’m going to instead create a commitment to…

  1. Feel good,
  2. Have energy
  3. Be healthy
  4. Be strong
  5. Be smart
  6. Be creative
  7. And do what ever needs to be done to have all of those things in my life consistently

I’m going to stop focusing on only my outer appearance and instead focus on my inside and how I feel instead. I want to feel good all of the time, I no longer want to feel not good enough, or constrained by my limited thinking and powerless beliefs, I want to be powerful, and happy and fulfilled, I want to live in that place every single day, and stand in my greatness.

b5e058a91e5250f9d158589b199bc0ce

My new commitment is

  1. I’m going to workout regularly with the intention of feeling great
  2. I’m gong to eat foods that power, and nourish my body and mind
  3. I’m going to be gentile with myself
  4. I’m going to stop comparing my worst to other peoples best
  5. and I’m going to stick to my commitment to be happy and healthy.
  6. and I’m going to focus on each of these everyday

I hope all of you will take up this challenge and make a new commitment,  stop fighting so hard to “look good” and instead focus on feeling good and being the best you that you can be, on every level.

You’re worth it, and you’re already absolutely perfect the way you are, why not start feeling that way?

Here’s what you’ll need… We used Alton browns recipe from The Food Network http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/homemade-marshmallows-recipe.html

INGREDIENTS

3 packages unflavored gelatin
1 cup ice cold water, divided
12 ounces granulated sugar, approximately 1 1/2 cups
1 cup light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
Nonstick spray

Add the 3 pkgs of gelatine to the bowl of a stand mixer with a whisk attachment (you could use a hand mixer too it just may take longer) along with 1/2 cup of the water.

In a small saucepan combine the remaining 1/2 cup water, granulated sugar, corn syrup and salt. Place over medium high heat, cover and allow to cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Uncover, clip a candy thermometer onto the side of the pan and continue to cook until the mixture reaches 240 degrees F, approximately 7 to 8 minutes. Once the mixture reaches this temperature, immediately remove from the heat.
Turn the mixer on low speed and, while running, slowly pour the sugar syrup down the side of the bowl into the gelatin mixture. Once you have added all of the syrup, increase the speed to high. Continue to whip until the mixture becomes very thick and is lukewarm, approximately 12 to 15 minutes. Add the vanilla during the last minute of whipping. (here you can also add any flavour you like in place of the vanilla, rum, seedless strawberry jam, mint, ANYTHING! Go crazy!)

While the mixture is whipping prepare the pans as follows. For regular marshmallows:

Combine the confectioners’ sugar and cornstarch in a small bowl. Lightly spray a 13 by 9-inch metal baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Add the sugar and cornstarch mixture and move around to completely coat the bottom and sides of the pan. Return the remaining mixture to the bowl for later use.

When ready, pour the mixture into the prepared pan, using a lightly oiled spatula for spreading evenly into the pan. Dust the top with enough of the remaining sugar and cornstarch mixture to lightly cover. Reserve the rest for later. Allow the marshmallows to sit uncovered for at least 4 hours and up to overnight.

Turn the marshmallows out onto a cutting board and cut into 1-inch squares using a pizza wheel dusted with the confectioners’ sugar mixture. Once cut, lightly dust all sides of each marshmallow with the remaining mixture, using additional if necessary. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks.

For miniature marshmallows:
Combine the confectioners’ sugar and cornstarch in a small bowl. Line 4 half sheet pans with parchment paper, spray the paper with nonstick cooking spray and dust with the confectioners’ sugar mixture.

Scoop the mixture into a piping bag fitted with a 1/2-inch round piping tip. Pipe the mixture onto the prepared sheet pans lengthwise, leaving about 1-inch between each strip. Sprinkle the tops with enough of the remaining cornstarch and sugar mixture to lightly cover. Let the strips set for 4 hours or up to overnight.

Cut into 1/2 inch pieces using a pizza wheel or scissors dusted with the confectioners’ sugar mixture. Once cut, lightly dust all sides of each marshmallow with the remaining sugar mixture and store in an airtight container for up to a week.

Then we made them into S’mores.

YUMMY!
